Clearing and forwarding agents handle customs paperwork and port release — essential for imports, but many stop at the port gate. Transporters move cargo on the road but do not clear it. Insist on an itemised quote. Kenya's logistics horror stories almost always start with a low headline price and end with 'storage', 'verification' and 'facilitation' charges nobody mentioned. A serious company itemises duties, port charges, transport and its own fee separately.

Finally, test responsiveness before you sign. Send a question on a weekday afternoon; if the reply takes three days during the courtship, imagine the service after they have your cargo.
